Edelman Brussels is looking for an intern to start ASAP. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with experience in EU affairs and policy work, with excellent research, communication and writing skills, who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and has the experience and/or interest in health policy. The trainee will have an opportunity to develop and gain experience in public affairs work as part of a multi-cultural, motivated and growing team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

The precise nature of activities will depend on the priorities and client work during the time of the placement. However, the responsibilities and tasks are likely to include the following:

  • Policy and press monitoring on issues of interest;
  • Assistance with daily tasks of the Public Affairs team on various client accounts as required;
  • Executing Public Affairs and media strategies;
  • Contributing to research and analysis on various policy issues, reporting of relevant developments, drafting briefings, reports, updates and other forms of communication;
  • Support with the organisation of and preparation of materials for meetings, events or other clients/stakeholder engagement activities;
  • Support, as necessary, of the organisation of events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

  • University degree in political science, communications, international relations, law or other relevant fields;
  • Native or near-native level of English (oral and written) is required;
  • Good knowledge of EU policies and decision-making processes;
  • Experience and/or interest in health policy;
  • Strong research-focused profile;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – a positive approach with a self-learning attitude;
  • Ability to work effectively in a varied environment and within small dynamic teams;
  • Interest in digital forms of communication and a good understanding of the social media landscape;
  • Experience in working with the media and/or a good understanding of the media landscape would be an asset;
  • A proven interest in, and/or understanding of, the area for which the candidate is applying;
  • Native or near-native level of English (oral and written);
  • Excellent analytical and written skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and on multiple assignments within small dynamic teams;
  • Solid project management skills and client-centric approach, ideally gained from prior experience working in a consultancy;
