DIRECTOR/SENIOR DIRECTOR - TECHNOLOGY

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Director/Senior Director to join the team to lead our Technology offering.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join an established office and to help build out our existing Technology offering to global, regional and local clients.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding of the global and European tech environment and the key institutions and their expectations; Over 10 years’ experience working in technology policy, communication and other public affairs areas;
  • A strong understanding of the intricacies of the EU policy environment and how technology policy is effectively influenced and formed;
  • An ability to work in technology policy but also an appreciation for technology is driving change across industries and sectors; and
  • Consultancy experience and an ability to build out a business/offer.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Create a team within the Edelman Brussels office, offering technology public policy work to global, regional and local clients;
  • Supporting across the wider team as/when required and being a true team player;
  • Building a network of technology contacts across the Edelman network and working to drive a community of technology policy understanding across our footprint;

  • Hands-on assistance with daily tasks related to PR, advising and executing across a number of client accounts and teams;
  • Support with developing and executing PR and media strategies;
  • Support with organisation of and preparation of materials for meetings, events or other client/stakeholder engagement activities;
  • Building out a core network across the Edelman network of PR go-to people and forming a clear community for engagement and collaboration; and
  • Working various client accounts as required, working to deadlines (including media monitoring, reporting, writing and reviewing of media materials, media outreach, follow up on media enquiries etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent level of English (oral and written) is required;
  • Other European languages would be beneficial (e.g. French or German or others);
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in journalism, communications, PR, languages, political science, international relations or other relevant field;
  • Good knowledge/understanding of the global policy debate, the European landscape and specific Member State knowledge is expected – specific PR related knowledge is a plus, as is knowledge of communications marketing;
  • Passionate about communications and policy issues;
  • Excellent analytical and written skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – a positive approach with a self-learning attitude;
  • Ability to work under pressure and on multiple assignments;
  • Ability to work effectively in a varied environment and within small dynamic teams;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), additional skills are a plus;
  • Knowledge of digital communication and social media; and
  • A creative/constantly curious mindset.

PA ACCOUNT MANAGER/SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER

Edelman Brussels is looking for a talented public affairs and public relations professional with minimum of 4-6 years of agency experience to work across our exciting clients and help us develop new business opportunities. We are looking for someone with experience in international market coordination and account management and an eye for detail. The clients are demanding, and our work is fast-paced – you will need to be a quick thinker, a strong multi-tasker and thrive in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be a fluent English speaker and writer with excellent communication and writing skills.

THE ROLE

The precise nature of activities will depend on the priorities and client work during the time of the placement, to be agreed. However, the responsibilities and tasks are likely to include the following:

  • A focus on policy, press and/or social media for clients, including but not limited to food, health & wellness, and sustainability, energy and climate, as well as related specific issues;
  • Assistance with daily tasks of the team on various client accounts as required;
  • Project management;
  • Day-to-day support, both agency and client-side, including regular conference calls and clear, concise PR briefings for planning announcements;
  • Developing media strategies and outreach plans
  • Liaison with global PR and PA teams and managing the roll-outs of all PR and PA plans and assets;
  • Campaign and event reporting and best practice sharing across the markets;
  • Day-to-day account management of junior team members;
  • Identifying and pitching new business opportunities;
  • Budget management inclusive of all owned projects;
  • Experience developing and executing PR and media strategies at global, pan-European and Brussels level
  • Contributing to research and analysis on various policy issues, reporting of relevant developments, drafting briefings, reports, updates and other forms of communication;
  • Support with organisation and preparation of materials for meetings, events or other client/stakeholder engagement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • Native or near-native level of English (oral and written) is required;
    • Other European languages would be beneficial (e.g. French or German);
    • University degree in political science, communications, international relations, law or other relevant field;
    • Very good knowledge of EU decision making processes, ideally gained from prior experience working in a consultancy, the institutions, private sector or other EU-related environment
    • Excellent analytical and written skills;
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – a positive approach with a self-learning attitude;
    • Ability to work under pressure and on multiple assignments;
    • Ability to work effectively in a varied environment and within small dynamic teams;
    • Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), additional skills are a plus;
    • Interest in digital forms of communication and a good understanding of the social media landscape;
    • Experience in working with the media (strategy, outreach, coordination) and/or a good understanding of the media landscape would be an asset.
